Framed Print of The Letter Writer, by Frans van Mieris (I), 1680, Dutch painting, oil on panel
The Letter Writer, by Frans van Mieris (I), 1680, Dutch painting, oil on panel. Frans van Mieris was fijnschilder or fine painter who could render velvet and silk, fur and wood in minute detail. She writes, probably responding to a letter brought by messenger. The inclusion of the lute, with it's amorous connotations, indicate she is responding to a love letter (BSLOC_2016_3_243).
