Framed Print of Francisco Pissarro's soldiers massacre Incan men, women, and children in a fortified settlement
Francisco Pissarros soldiers massacre Incan men, women, and children in a fortified settlement. This represents the Spanish conquest of Cuzco in November 1533, which was non-violent. It better illustrates the massacre of 2, 000 of Atahualpas lightly armed attendants within fortified city of Cajamarca after the Spanish captured the Incan Emperor on November 16, 1532. In that battle, 180 Spanish soldiers defeated 8, 000 Incan attendants with the advantage of surprise, the terror of cannons, harquebuses, and mounted soldiers with steel swords and armor (BSLOC_2020_1_112).
